The official CM 11 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Nightly ROM is now live for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 device. Check the instructions listed in this post if you want to learn how to successfully install it on your device.

In order to install this new ROM on your phone you will first need to check the guidelines below and prepare the phone for the updating process. Here’s what you need to know:

• use the guide only with the Samsung Galaxy S5 CDMA on Sprint.
  – do not try to update any other Galaxy S5 variants with the files that you will find in this post.
  – this device needs to have the “kltespr” codename listed in the About Phone section under Settings.
• your phone needs to be rooted and running the latest build of CWM or TWRP custom Recovery image.
• before installing this new ROM you will have to apply two extra steps: NANDROID Backup and Factory Reset.
  – the NANDROID Backup creates a restore point for your device, while the Factory Reset wipes the system partition with the data that was installed by the previous ROM.
  – don’t skip these steps.
  – the ‘factory reset’ process won’t delete any data from the internal nor external storage of your phone.
  – in case you need to save data from installed apps or some text messages, then you can use the Helium tool.
  – the Contacts info should be synced with your default Gmail profile.
• check the battery charge level of your device and make sure that it is over 50%, it will prevent the phone from powering down during installation.
• read the entire post first and do not skip any steps if you want to complete the installation at your first attempt.

How to flash CM 11 Android 4.4.4 Nightly ROM for the Sprint Galaxy S5 CDMA:

1. Download the latest CM 11 Nightly build for your device here.
   – make sure to grab the latest Nightly build available.
2. Download Gapps for Android 4.4.x ROMs zip here.
3. Transfer both files to your phone’s internal storage.
   – do not extract the zip contents.
   – in case you’ve downloaded the files straight to your phone, then you can skip this step.
   – disconnect the phone from PC when you’re done with the transfer.
4. Switch off the phone now. Now boot it in Custom Recovery Mode.
5. Set a NANDROID Backup of your device now:
   – CWM: select ‘backup and restore’, while for TWRP you need to select ‘Backup’ option.
   – confirm process.
6. Set the ‘factory reset’ now:
   – CWM: select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’, while for TWRP you need to select ‘Wipe’ option.
   – confirm the factory reset and then continue to the next step.
7. Begin the CM 11 Android 4.4.4 Nightly ROM install process now:
   – CWM: select ‘install zip from sdcard’, then ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
   – TWRP: press Install.
8. Find the CM 11 Nightly zip file and confirm the installation process.
9. After the new ROM is flashed you will need to install the Gapps zip, too. Use the same actions as in step 7 in order to complete the installation of Gapps.
10. Reboot the phone in normal mode after all the files have been successfully installed.
    – note that the first boot process of this new ROM takes somewhere around ten minutes before it loads all the new files.
11. Use your login details in order to take control over your device once again.
