The   official Weekly 8.20 build of SlimKat 4.4.4 custom ROM is now live for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 smartphone. Use this post if you wish to learn how to successfully learn how to install this new custom ROM for your device.

The SlimKat ROM is a lite operating system that borrows features from Stock Android 4.4.4, CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android and AOKP custom ROMs. Here you can learn more about this release.

Check the guidelines below before starting the installation process of this new ROM:

• use the post only for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100.
  – check the version of your smartphone under Settings> About Phone and make sure that the N7100 term is listed under Model Number.
  – do not attempt to flash this new ROM on any other smartphones.
• the device that you’re about to update with a custom Android 4.4.4 ROM needs to be rooted and running a custom Recovery image like CWM or TWRP.
• in the tutorial you will find two extra preparation steps that you shouldn’t skip: NANDROID Backup and Factory Reset.
  – the NANDROID Backup will create a restore point for your device, one that you can use in case the new ROM doesn’t boot in normal mode.
  – the ‘factory reset’ wipes the data from the system partition storage, it won’t delete any files stored on the internal nor external storage.
• in case you need to save data from installed apps then you should use the Helium tool for Android.
• Contacts data can be synced with your default Gmail account.
• check the battery charge level of your device and make sure that it is over 50%, this will prevent it from powering down during installation process.
• read the entire post and do not skip any of the steps listed in the tutorial.
• this is a guide for advanced users, we cannot be held responsible in case you lose any data nor in case you end up bricking your smartphone in the process.

How to flash SlimKat 4.4.4 Weekly 8.20 ROM for Galaxy Note N7100:

1. Download the SlimKat 4.4.4 Weekly ROM from here.
2. Download the Slim Gapps ROM from here.
3. Connect your smartphone with your PC and then move both zip files on to your device’s internal storage.
   – after the files are copied you should disconnect the phone from PC.
   – do not unzip the files.
   – if you’ve used the phone to download these files, then you should skip this step.
4. Power down the device and then boot it in Custom Recovery Mode.
5. Create a full NANDROID Backup for the ROM that’s currently running on your device.
   – for CWM select ‘backup and restore’ option, while for TWRP you should select ‘backup’ option.
   – set a name for the backup file and confirm the process.
6. Now you can apply the ‘factory reset':
   – CWM: select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’, while for TWRP you should select ‘wipe’ option.
   – confirm the ‘factory reset’ and continue to the next step when the process is complete.
7. Install the SlimKat 4.4.4 ROM for your Galaxy Note N7100:
   – CWM: select ‘install zip from sdcard’, then ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
   – TWRP: press Install.
8. Find the ROM zip file and confirm its installation.
9. After the SlimKat ROM is installed you should flash the Gapps zip, too. Use the same options as in step 7 in order to find the Gapps file.
10. After all the new files have been installed you should reboot the device in normal mode.
    – note that the first boot process of this new ROM will take at least ten minutes in order to loads all the new files.
    – don’t press any buttons until the welcome screen of the new ROM appears
11. Use you login details in order to take control over your smartphone once again.
